This car is an extraordinary original unrestored treasure. The Rickenbacker was arguably one of the finest automobiles produced in its day. It featured four wheel brakes and many other advanced features not found on any other cars in its class. The company was led by famous World War One ace Eddie Rickenbacker for whom it was named and Rickenbacker insisted the car be built to only the highest standards. It was so good that it posed a great threat to the rest of the industry, so much so that an automobile manufacturers group, led by Studebaker, mounted an anti - Rickenbacker ad campaign which convinced people that they could be thrown through the windshields of their cars or roll over if they used a car equipped with four wheel brakes. Amusing now, but it put Rickenbacker out of business.
There are purported to be less than fifty Rickenbacker cars, comprising all models, in existence.
They were produced from 1922 to 1926 and the 25s are widely thought of as their best model year.
The engine is a six cylinder and was a proprietary motor built by Rickenbacker company.
