After restoration

The Guild of Automotive Restorers offers complete and comprehensive services to the collector car hobby. Among those services is engine rebuilding from exotic V-12 Ferrari motors, Rolls Royce or Cord to Chevy Flame Sixes, Packard Straight Eights and Model T four cylinders. We do complete paint and body and we strip the car to bare metal so that the finish on your car is as good as or better than the day it was made. Metal repairs range from properly made and welded in patches to the complete re-bodying of classic and custom cars.  Everything is fabricated in steel or aluminum. Our coach trimming shop is second to none and we can replace your convertible roof or completely replace your upholstery. Complete servicing for collector cars is available at The Guild, from light tune-ups to tracking down persistent and troublesome problems.

Every once in awhile people ask us what the Guild actually does. From that we gather that either they aren't reading our adverts or perhaps we don't list everything often enough. Now we rather dislike boring repetitive adverts with lists so don't think that we are going to start running this same boring ad, but we are going to list what we do, so here goes.

Full service - for all cars built before 1970, and a lucky few after,

Mechanical restoration - Making all the bits you can't see work and act like new.

Engine and transmission rebuilding - Including making the bits that can't be bought.

Frame repair - Not collision, don't have a frame bender, we are talking rust and decades of abuse.

Automotive Electrical - starters, generators and rotten old harnesses, we will fix it all. The guy that does it is going bald.

Steering gear and front end - Old cars are hard enough to keep in the middle of the road, we give you a fighting chance.

Brakes - No matter what type. We do Rolls Royce brakes, from there everything else is easy

Panel beating -  Which means that if the fender can't be bought for your car, we can make it.

Coach Building - Which means that if you don't have a body on your car we can make it for you.

Body work - Yes we do use filler but we use it properly, We can if requested do it completely without filler, see above, Panel beating and Coach building.

Preparation - The really important bit between body work and paint which requires a lot of sanding and a very fine touch.

Paint - We paint cars properly which means that we take all the old paint off before we put new paint on. (Body work and preparation come in between). We don't do lacquer anymore--it's illegal, but we can make urethane paint look like lacquer. (We don't like to brag but one of our Urethane paint jobs won best lacquer in show and it is going to last a lot longer than lacquer. We never mention what show because we don't want to get the judges cranky).

Interior - From fully original Leather, English Broadcloth, and Melton Wool to Fifties metallic weave and vinyl and full custom, both fifties and leading edge. You won't get a better interior done anywhere else. We do eliminate mouse pee, ask us how. Free mouse traps provided with every new interior on request.

General Maintenance - every kind of day to day detail from tune ups to those nagging electrical problems, carb rebuilds, radiator work and on and on.

Custom work - We can Chop, Channel, French, Flame and even Lace.

(Bet a lot of you don't remember what lace is.)

Driveline alterations - A fancy way of saying we can install a different engine, transmission or rear end in your car but, if we think you're being dumb, we will tell you.

Advice - Large quantities may be offered as we work on your car. Listening is optional. (Note: We cannot be held accountable for added costs incurred by failure to listen).
