Well sorted 4.5 Litre Lemans Style Bentley
A total of 658 Bentley 4 1/2 Litre cars were built; out of that figure 9 -10 were delivered with the 9'9 1/2" chassis from the works. Chassis # DS3553 was delivered from the factory to Freestone and Webb Coachbuilders and fitted with Saloon coachwork for Mr. M. Wolfe in October of 1929. Sometime after World War II the chassis was shortened and was fitted with a 4P open body and a 6 Litre radiator. The car was seen again in 1957 in poor condition and scheduled to be broken up for parts. The car was then acquired by a noted Bentley enthusiast who restored the car to full Lemans racing specifications using many period and rare original parts. The coachwork now on the car is in fact an original Van den Plas body from another original car. The car features competition 6 Litre radiator with stone guard with large filler neck. Lemans style oversized fuel tank, 3.3 axle ratio, D-type gearbox, extra B&D shocks, bonnet straps, split pinning and B.A.R.C. exhaust system with asbestos and wire guards at the petrol tank and exhaust. It is a very well sorted car ready for any Vintage event throughout the world. A thrill to drive.
