This was a prototype car designed in the 1980's.  This is what California designers thought that the Volkswagen Bug would look like in the year 2000. Originally commissioned by Volkswagen as a design exercise and built by a design company in California.

Documentation for this car was stolen about six years ago so some research needs to be done.The Project 2000 car was used in the movies "BACK TO THE FUTURE", "CONDOR" and "FLASH" as well as some commercials.
